Our Learning Space for Ages 12+

Inspiring Self-Directed, Creative & Democratic Learning

Welcome to our alternative learning space for young people aged 12 and above — a mindful, soulful, and democratic community where curiosity is welcomed, creativity is celebrated, and learning unfolds at each child’s natural pace.

Every child is different

We know that no two learners are alike.
That’s why students can attend 1, 2, or 3 days a week, choosing a rhythm that fits who they are. Some come to dive deeply into their passions, others to reconnect with learning in a way that feels safe, inspiring, and meaningful.
Here, education adapts to the child — not the other way around.

A Self-Directed Approach to Learning

From that foundation of choice grows a truly self-directed experience.
Our classes follow a Socratic, student-led approach, where learning begins with questions, wonder, and conversation. Students help shape their own education — deciding what they want to explore, setting their own goals, and working alongside peers and mentors in ways that feel authentic to them.

Each week, our democratic meeting ensures every voice has weight, helping students build confidence, independence, and ownership over their learning journey.
Homework and written assignments are optional, keeping learning joyful, curiosity-driven, and stress-free.

Creativity & Interdisciplinary Learning

From these shared choices emerge rich, creative, and interconnected studies.
Our programme invites students to explore the natural world and human experience through a blend of science, humanities, and the arts.
Learning becomes hands-on and experiential — a chance to investigate, imagine, experiment, and connect ideas across subjects.
By seeing the world as an integrated whole, students develop broad thinking, creativity, and a deeper understanding of how everything relates.

Democratic Education in Action

And at the heart of it all is democracy in action.
Our students don’t just take part in their learning — they help shape the community itself. Through weekly meetings, they propose ideas, initiatives, and even rules, learning how to listen, negotiate, and collaborate.
Student-led committees and workshops give them further space to lead, organise, and explore their passions. In this way, our learning space becomes exactly what it is meant to be: a community built for the students, by the students.

Meet Our Educator

Nimrod brings curiosity, compassion, and a strong commitment to democratic education to his work with young people.

Trained in Critical Pedagogy, Nimrod holds a Bachelor of Education and an MA in Psychosocial Studies from Birkbeck, University of London. He taught for seven years at a democratic school in Israel, where he also trained in Project-Based Learning and worked with students from primary through to sixth form. Together with his students, he co-created courses such as Kids’ Philosophy, Detectives in History, and Myth-Breaking.

Alongside his teaching, Nimrod has long been involved in peace, social justice, and youth work, including mentoring, creative writing, and supporting young people through community initiatives. His approach is thoughtful, relational, and deeply respectful of students as critical, capable learners. He is the father of twins who are still too young to come to our learning community.

We are an Ofsted-registered childcare provider.

We offer the choice or going for a walk in the beautiful Nutclough woods or staying indoors for fun movement and meditation.

Most of our students progress to GCSE courses at a range of different colleges. They’re often pleasantly surprised by how well they perform — something we attribute to the strong love of learning they’ve developed during their time with us.
